Choosing Your Boudoir Photographer – 7 Questions you should ask

During your search for the right photographer for you, I suggest you have some questions ready for the photographer to be sure it’s someone you want to work with. But what questions should you ask? Here are a few that my fellow boudoir photographers and I hope you’ll ask before scheduling your session.

  1. What print products do you offer? If you have an idea of what you’d like to do with your photos, you’ll want to know what kind of products your photographer offers, and how they will be delivered to you. If you’re looking for something specific that your photographer doesn’t offer, this will end in frustration for both you and your photographer. If you aren’t sure how you’ll display your photos, knowing what you can order ahead of time might help you decide what to do with them. Don’t be afraid to ask for your photographer’s opinion as well. We love helping you decide!

  2. What is your reschedule policy? We all know life can take a turn we weren’t expecting. If you’re booking your session for a few weeks out, something may happen that will force you to reschedule. You’ll want to know ahead of time if this is an option, and what their policy is. Be sure – especially if you’re paying a booking fee – that you won’t lose your money or your time with the photographer. It’s also a good idea to find out if they have a policy for when clients are late to their sessions.

  3. When will I get my prints back? Knowing what to expect for when you’ll see your photos, and when you can expect to have them back will help you plan for when to schedule your session. If you need to place a rush on getting your prints back, your photographer may charge you a Rush Fee.

  4. How long does a session take? We all have busy schedules and some of us have our days planned down to the minute. If you’re planning your session will take 2 hours and it really takes 5, you’re going to be feeling rushed and stressed out. Make sure you’re able to plan your day so you’re feeling relaxed at your session.

  5. Will I do my own hair and makeup? Some boudoir photographers offer hair and makeup as a service to go along with your session. Make sure you know what to expect for cost and time, or if you will need to do your own hair and makeup.

  6. Where do I find samples of your work? Checking out the photographer’s style will help you decide if they are right for you. You want to be sure you’re going to get the photos you want from your session, and if the photographer has a completely different style than what you’re looking for, you may not be happy with the end result.

  7. What payment options do you offer? If your photographer isn’t able to accept credit cards as a form of payment, you’ll want to know that up front. This is also a good time to ask about payment plans they offer, and how you schedule your session.

Having a list of questions that are important for you to know about the photographer will help you find one that’s right for you. When scheduling a Boudoir Session you’ll want to feel comfortable in the process so you’re able to concentrate on enjoying your day. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
